Miklavčič Janez S.P.- Gostilna Miklavčič
About This Spot
Stepping into Gostilna Miklavčič in the heart of Velike Bloke is like revisiting a corner of Slovenian tradition where time moves at its own gentle pace. The setting carries the echoes of a simpler era—humble and unpretentious, with an interior that nods to days gone by rather than shiny modern trends. There’s an unspoken welcome here, a place where locals gather as much for the company as for the home-cooked meals that echo surrounding farmlands and forests.
The atmosphere feels quietly familiar, shaped by the steady rhythm of simple rituals: the clink of cutlery, warm conversations, and the occasional murmur of stories shared over hearty food. This is a casual local eatery and guest house where the emphasis lies on comfort and genuine connection rather than polished perfection. Its modest lighting and well-worn corners speak of many meals savored and memories made.
Food here is an invitation to slow down and savor the flavors rooted in the Slovenian countryside. Dishes arrive with satisfying portions and a rustic authenticity that comforts — think tender wild game roasts, freshly prepared potato gnocchi tossed with rich mushroom sauces, and seasonal produce that honors the land. Desserts like apple strudel with creamy curd resonate with both history and home, rounding out a meal that feels honest and straightforward. The menu is thoughtfully local, serving up specialties that reflect the region’s culinary soul without fuss.
The service, warmly attentive though not overly formal, mirrors the atmosphere — approachable and familiar, like a visit to a neighbor’s table after a long day. While the décor may lean towards the vintage and simple, the hospitality and flavors bring a sincere warmth that invites you to linger just a little longer.
For those wandering the scenic trails nearby or passing through this quiet corner of Slovenia, Gostilna Miklavčič is a spot where the pace eases, the food comforts, and the spirit of place quietly unfolds. It’s less about dazzling presentations and more about authentic moments shared, the kind that feel quietly timeless.

It's always nice to find such place after long and hard hiking on 1796m Sneznik mountain . We ordered lunch: - Beef soup 2x (very tasty) - Home Bloska beef stakes with gnocchi and vegetables (tender meat with souce) - Fried chicken with potates and vegetables. And for desert - traditional slovenian Gibanica whitch was excellent. I would like to praise waitress and the chefs! Thank you!

Great food and service. Not that cozy because of the lighting. Interior was a little dated
